For a town with under 2000 inhabitants, Meribel has a large number of champions.

Georges Mauduit

Georges Mauduit was World Ski  Champion in 1966 is the most famous champion of them all. A long piste even bears his name  – “The Mauduit” !

In Snowboarding, the bubbly Julie Pomagalski was recently World Champion in Boardercross . And Phil  Lau won the World Cup telemark in sprint .

Now 2 inhabitants have been selected to represent France in the upcoming winter Olympics in Pyeonhchang.

Sacha Theocharis has been  on skis since the age of 5 years. He soon joined the freestyle section of Meribel Ski Club before joining the France team. He is skiing bumps. Thomas Krief will be skiing halfpipe. Both  will be great competitions to watch.

Congratulations to them, and all the coaches, and other support from The Meribel Ski Club. Our facilities are also second to none.

Good luck to  both Sacha and Thomas.

Jonathan.
